Gate valves are used for leak-free cutting off water or steam. These valves are used only for cutting off (opening) pipelines. Connection to pipeline – by welding. Gate valves are operated by means of handwheel, parallel shaft reducer or right-angle reducer, electric drive.

The gate valve. Features of the equipment and operation
A gate valve is one of the types of shut-off valves. This equipment is widely used on various types of industrial pipelines. In order to buy a valve that will perform the assigned tasks at a specific object, it is necessary to have an idea of the main features and functioning of this type of valve.
Operational characteristics of gate valves - work with various media::liquid, viscous, gaseous, bulk; alkaline, acidic;
- operate in a large range of operating temperatures-the ambient and transported environment, up to 565 degrees C;
- works in a large pressure range, there are valves for medium and high parameters;
- it has a large range of diameters, from 15 to 2000 mm.
Design features
The gate valve is a two-position valve. The shut-off element in the closed state prevents the movement of the flow in the pipeline, in the open position it does not obstruct the flow of the medium in any way. The valve blocks the flow of the medium in the perpendicular direction, so the operation of the valve is characterized by low hydraulic resistance. The gate valve is irreplaceable on fast main pipelines with a large flow rate of the medium, since when using it there are no additional energy costs to compensate for possible hydraulic resistance.
Production of gate valves
Materials of the main parts that perceive the pressure of the working medium, depending on the temperature of the working medium:
up to 280 degrees C-steel grades 25L or 20GSL;
up to 540 degrees C-20KHMFL;
over 540 degrees C-steel 12X1MF or 15X2M1F.
The material of the valve spindle is steel 25X2M1F.
The valve can be controlled manually, using an electric drive or a gearbox..
According to the tightness class, the valve can correspond to the highest class A, where any, even minor leaks of the medium outside the pipeline are excluded. Specialists of pipeline factory fittings manufacturing companies help to order and buy a valve for the tasks set at a specific object.
